Procter and Gamble has issued a voluntary market withdrawal of Iams Shakeables Turkey and Lamb Dog Treats with certain “Impacted Lot Numbers” listed below. These treats are being voluntarily withdrawn due to potential for mold growth. No other products are affected. Procter and Gamble has not received any reports of human or pet illnesses.

To find the lot code on your can, look at the first 4 numbers of the second line on the bottom of the can as they identify the affected lots.

Please stop feeding these products and bring any remaining Iams Shakeables Turkey and Lamb Dog Treats affected by the voluntary withdrawal to your closest PetSmart store for a full refund. 2010-11-18-P&G to close Lewisburg plant

Procter & Gamble Co. said Thursday it will close its Lewisburg pet food plant by the end of January 2011 and transfer 160 employees from the pet care research and development center to the Cincinnati area in April, eliminating all but about 70 P&G jobs in Lewisburg.

Procter & Gamble recalls Iams and Eukanuba brand petfoods

Release Date: Monday, August 02 , 2010

Procter & Gamble recalled select lines of its Iams and Eukanuba brand dry petfoods because of possible Salmonella contamination.

The recall affects all varieties, UPC codes and sizes of the following product lines: Iams Veterinary Dry Formulas, Eukanuba Naturally Wild, Eukanuba Pure and Eukanuba Custom Care Sensitive Skin. All products have “best-by” dates of 7/1/10 through 1/12/11.  The products were all produced in a single facility, and were distributed through veterinary clinics and pet specialty stores throughout the US and Canada.

News Story of pet owner Victoria Beard and the medical bill’s (Iams) P&G would not pay in 2007 after her cat Pursia was sickened & hospitalized from eating tainted Iams canned food. After the news video aired P&G agreed to pay the medical bills for Pursia’s current and future medical expenses.

UPDATE: As a result of the news contacting them, Iams reviewed the case and agreed to pay all related charges from their *tainted  food.
